We have BIG ambitions for Cwmclydach, but without support and feedback from
the local and wider community our vision will not be realised.
The work Cwmclydach Community Partnership do, is driven by volunteers who
give a little time every month to support the continuous improvement and
development of Cwmclydach.

Volunteering Explained
Volunteering is simple. It's about giving your time to do something useful,
without getting paid (apart from expenses).
In return you get the satisfaction of time and effort well spent. In
addition, volunteering can be a great way to:
meet new people,
learn new skills,
gain useful experience,
& It should also be fun!
The range of opportunities is huge. Whatever skills and experience you have,
there is something that you can do. The best way to see what is available is
to contact the communities first team.
The biggest problem for many people is finding the time to volunteer. It can
reduce your choices if you don't have much time to spare, but many busy
people do find suitable opportunities. Again, give us a call and we'll see
what opportunities are available at the times that suit you.
Once you start volunteering you should usually expect:
payment of out-of pocket expenses (eg travel),
a clear idea of what your role will be,
appropriate training and support,
Remember, if you aren't clear about anything, don't be afraid to ask
someone!

If you would like to see details of current opportunities, please
contact us. We are currently developing a new web
feature called The Volunteer Board which will allow you to view the
different projects you're able to get involved with and the kind of
skills/experience you could gain.
The partnership works hard to support and develop Cwmclydach, but we NEED
MORE HELP! |

Rivercare Group Volunteers
21st of October and a group of volunteers
borrowed some tools and started to make improvements in the Countryside
Park. The group led by Phil Jenkins had identified an area of pathway
and steps near the lower lake that needed clearing and tidying up during a
site visit organised the week before. Working in partnership with
Kevin Oates the RCT Countryside Ranger, Ben Williams of Keep Wales Tidy and
also linking with Y Pant Comprehensive School, they looked at several
things that they want to do to improve the Countryside Park including
setting up way marker posts, repairing benches, clearing drainage channels,
taking care of the miners monument and of course the removing litter.
Whilst, the volunteers cleaned up the
steps and path, Kevin Oates supplied the manpower to clear away the brush
alongside the Lakeside Cafe, allowing better access for visitors to the
lower lake and what a difference that makes!
Another project is to identify what
wildlife is in the park and perhaps looking at setting aside reserves of
different habitat that will encourage even more wildlife into the
Countryside Park. Are there any budding Naturalists out there?
If so come and join us.
Of course this first path clearing project
is only a small step to improving this lovely area on our very own doorstep,
but it's a start and 'things can only get better' as the song goes.
The next meeting of the Rivercare Group
will Take place at the Community Development Centre at 5:30 pm on Wednesday
28th of October why not come along and join us!
